March in Aspen Snowmass is a true sweet spot for both skiers and vacationers alike. The slopes can offer everything from warm spring bluebird days to heavy snowstorms that drop endless amounts of powder. The variety keeps things interesting, whether you’re chasing fresh tracks at the Highland Bowl or carving smooth groomers at Snowmass.
There’s also plenty to do off the mountain, with world-class dining, shopping, and outdoor activities such as snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. The following are some of our favorite reasons to visit Aspen Snowmass in March.
Spring Skiing in Aspen Snowmass
Snow typically covers Aspen’s four mountains by the beginning of March, making for excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. The longer days and warmer afternoons make it possible to spend more time enjoying the conditions, and skiers and riders can take advantage of later operating hours, with select lifts loading until 4:00 and the Silver Green Gondola operating as late as 4:30 p.m.
With the warmer weather, springtime après on a sun-drenched patio under the Colorado sun is hard to beat. There’s no shortage of ways to celebrate a perfect day on the mountain, whether grabbing a drink to toast the day’s adventures or sharing some truffle fries to re-energize after a long day of skiing and riding.
